Simulation: A simulation is any research or development project where researchers or developers create a model of some authentic phenomenon. Many aspects of the natural world can be transformed into mathematical models, and using simulation allows IT systems to mimic the outcomes that happen in the natural world. The main reason was that such simulation tools are not always used for developing just any type of learning but focused on training content creation for a specific software application or system. The software simulation in turn, can be divided into screen capturing tools and interactive simulation development tools.

However, almost all of them don’t create simulations that test learners on which steps to take; they just record the screen and produce a linear video. That can be very helpful but may not be enough. Here are three true authoring tools for which software simulations are just one feature among many. I have listed them in alphabetical order.
